Reflections.

"Wherein do the charms of this game lie, that captivate youth, and retain their hold till far on in life?... It is a fine, open-air, athletic exercise, not violent, but bringing into play nearly all the muscles of the body; while that exercise can be continued for hours. It is a game of skill, needing mind and thought and judgement, as well as a cunning hand. It is also a social game, where one may go out with one friend or with three, as the case may be, and enjoy mutual intercourse, mingled with an excitement which is very pleasing . . . It never palls or grows stale, as morning by morning the players appear at the teeing-ground with as keen a relish as if they had not seen a club for a month. Nor is it only while the game lasts that its zest is felt. How the player loves to recall the strokes and other incidents of the match, so that it is often played over again next morning while still in bed!"

New R&A Rule for Driving Clubs

Members are reminded that from the 1st Jan. 2008, the Rules of Golf will be changed to include a rule limiting the ‘spring-like’ effect of a driver head. The driver the player carries must have a clubhead, identified by model and loft, that is named on the current List of Conforming Driver Heads issued by R&A Rules Limited. Penalty for Breach of Condition: Disqualification. For more information, please go to link below:

Senior Moments

Late Starters on Tuesday morning. Best two out of three. All three players, reportedly, played extremely well. Couple of birdies and plenty of pars between them. It was in the bag. Or was it?
Unfortunately, when finished, they had no card to hand in. Yes, you've guessed it. All three had assumed someone else was scoring. Hard to believe, but true.

Colin Poole - Seniors Captain, 2006

Welcome to the seniors section’s own blogsite. Set up by our Hon. Sec. (Ken)
It acts as a kind of notice board and will in the fullness of time contain a myriad of information. I am glad of this opportunity to say something of my chosen charities. The St Johns Hospice at Moggerhanger and The Garden House Hospice at Letchworth. Both hospices do a fantastic job in caring for very sick patients and if, like me, you have had personal experience of a close relative or close friend being looked after in one of these establishments, you will know just how comforting it is for both patient and those close to them. I am sure you will be pleased to know that your raffle money and donations are helping to support such a good cause. Colin
