Fourball Better Ball Trophy

Due to the previous inclement weather, the competition was moved to the Carthagena Course. It was a very nice day with some sun and a gentle breeze, almost like Spring !!!!

30 pairs did battle and with the ¾ handicap allowance, some competitors were found wanting !! However, there were some good scores with the top seven pairings scoring 40 points or more.

Fergus Moynihan knew that he and his partner Graham McKay hadn’t won, because their playing partners, Captain, John Morris and Dave Evans beat them by a point ( It’s that Dave Evans in the frame again !!!!!).

But the winners, with 46 points were ‘steady Eddie’ Peter Lowe and Paul Stallard. Well done to them.

Ladies and Seniors Greensomes

On a cold crisp March morning with snow clearing slowly from the Carthagena course, the intrepid competitors started promptly at 09.00am. The snow cleared and it was a lovely day with a slight breeze keeping everyone safely wrapped up !

The Ladies brought a myriad of cakes, in all shapes and sizes and all very naughty! Our praise is due to their culinary arts. There were 96 playing in the end, which was a very good turnout and everyone enjoyed the company.

The raffle was well supported with nearly £200 being shared by the Captains for their Charities.

Bill Burrows did an excellent job under pressure and the Hon Sec will give him better supported next year!!

So, there had to be winners and they were :-

1^st Place - Janice Turner and Peter Hollingsworth

2^nd Place - Yvonne Smart and Martin Ives

3^rd Place - Jean Cobb and Dave Evans

4^th Place - Geraldine Clark and Bernard Gurney

I hope that everyone will play in the October fixture, which will be a Texas Scramble.
