On a lovely day and with the Old course looking and playing very well, 32 pairs competed for the Whitbread Trophy. There were many good scores and a few not so good. However, everyone, I think, enjoyed themselves.
After the golf, the club provided an excellent buffet lunch and a pudding that melted in the mouth !!!!!
So, to the prizes :-
The Winner of nearest the pin, on the 16th, was Hugh Harkett. The winner of the nearest the pin in two, on the 11th, was Peter Hollingsworth. The winner of the longest drive, on the 9th, was Trevor Hazell.
In third place, on 42 points, were Brian Gill and Robin Wilson (Grimsby GC). In second place, on count back, on 43 points, were Derek Weller and Tom Cook (Dunstable Downs GC). In First Place, and winners of the Whitbread Trophy, on 43 points, were David Lincoln and Chris Blencowe (Bourn GC).
Well done to Terry Stark for all his work on the event, ably assisted by Trevor Hazell and Bill Burrows.
